Let's go back and take another look at Earned Run Average. Randy Johnson and John Smoltz have a very similar ERA. Johnson has allowed 1461 earned runs in 4039 1/3 innings while Smoltz has allowed 1229 earned runs in 3395 innings. Whose ERA is lower?
